Hamden Tutors began long before our doors were opened.

The idea for Hamden Tutors began long, long ago in a galaxy not so far away.

As an educator back in the aughts, founder Elissa Berger loved putting together lessons that inspired and caused students to really think. The issue was, with the constructs of curriculum ordained by general education, lessons that deeply delved into problem solving and critical thinking were few and far between. Ergo, towards the beginning of her educational career, Elissa began thinking of tutoring and individualized education which could help students discover their unique skills and put them to use within an array of academic settings. Therefore, as an enhancement to generalized education, Ms. Berger has worked in the tutoring arena, helping students find ways to work through academic challenges while (hopefully) making learning fun. Based on her own experience in college where learning became truly enchanting, we at Hamden Tutors hope to create life-long learners who are motivated to explore and create.
